Dessert, Chocolate, Nuts: Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Frosting Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Preparation:
  • Mix together buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and baking soda.
  • In a seperate bowl, mix together 2 cups sugar and 2 cups flour.
  • In a saucepan, mix together and boil margarine, cocoa and water.
  • Add the boiling mixture to the buttermilk mixture.
  • Next, add the Sugar and Flour mixture.
Baking:
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spread the brownie mixture in an 11 x 16 greased and floured cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Prepare the frosting 5 minutes before the brownies come out of the oven.
Frosting Prepartion:
  • Boil margarine, cocoa and buttermilk in a saucepan.
  • Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and chopped nuts.
  • Spread onto hot brownies.
